Gresham College Lecture

In our rapidly changing world, the defining capability that will separate leading financial centres from their competitors is not their size, or their reputation, but their ability to manage risk.

In my Gresham College lecture, I argued that the UK must move from a culture of safetyism to one of responsible risk-taking to seize the opportunities ahead.

That means more investment in innovative firms, a smarter regulatory system that prioritises growth, and placing Chief Risk Officers are the heart of decision-making.
